LABYRINTH

Crucifixion 07:44
He was made to bear His cross
On scorched out shoulders whipped so hard
His bones were sticking out across
Like tombstones in a moonlit yard

 Ex Oriente Lux
 Ex Occidente Dux

When offered help he chose to walk
Alone to meet his deadly fate
For crucial was this silent talk
To all of those who did Him wait.

Iesu Christe, Agnus Dei, Filius Patris,
Qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis.

They nailed Him to the skyward tree
That pointed to the stars and back
Not knowing this would make Him free
And all of those who’d tread His track.

Ex Oriente Lux
 Ex Occidente Dux

You crucified the Son of God
And made His mother Mary cry,
Yet this is how was born the Rod
That now connects the earth and Sky.

Iesu Christe, Agnus Dei, Filius Patris,
Qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis.

Part I: MEDUSA

Who can face the Truth but he
Who shields his sight to see the Sun?
Who can stand her Face but he
Who saw the Snake and didn’t run?

 Beware that sneaky, deadly Crone,
For those who haven’t faced their Fear
And fought the Fight will turn to stone
As soon as they her Silence hear!

The Hero’s name is written still
Above her Temple’s yawning door –
For who could dare her green blood spill
But he who died and fears no more? Part II:

DYANA

The moon will listen to the sun
 And light the night with silent words;
The father’s shadow whispers to his son
And on the branches sing the birds –

 Form without a shape,
 Peace without a war,
 Sight without a sight,
 Voice without a sound.

That which you search you cannot find,
 For what you seek is but a ghost;
That which you find you cannot seize,
For what you see is but the void.

 Form without a shape,
 Peace without a war,
Sight without a sight,
 Voice without a sound.

The sky is closer to your heart
Than the earth is to your feet,
So you should tear your skin apart
And you will hear its beatless beat.

 Part III: SIRENS

Sailor, sailor, drown your sorrow,
Salty waters shall your soul relieve!

 Your ship’s afloat, this world’s a wreck,
Your crew’s insane, their creed’s unsound;
You’re lost for sure, so leave the deck:
The songs we sing are safe and sound…

Sailor, sailor, drown your sorrow,
Salty waters shall your soul relieve!

Now all you have to do is dive,
 Our voice will guide you through the waves;
First fly, then fall, we swear you’ll thrive:
Forget the mast, the clouds are graves…

 Sailor, sailor, drown your sorrow,
Salty waters shall your soul relieve!
 Part IV: MINOTAUR

The door was like a mouth agape,
And standing there, in front of Daedalus’
Maze, he felt, upon his nape,
The breath of Death – so cold and callous!

Yet Love was by his side, he thought,
 And holding Ariadne’s thread
He went inside and darkness fought –
He knew there was no cause for dread,

Yet bones and ghosts he felt and met
 (The Virgins who’d been sacrificed)
As well as Nymphs and girls coquette,
And almost lost his track for a tryst…

He finally reached the deadly center,
Though, but there he found no bull –
The gilded frame he sought to enter
Was with a human shadow full!

The shock was such he could not breathe –
Familiar was the man he saw –
Was it his face he’d tried to sheathe?
And for a while he stood in awe…

 He remembered now his name:
Theseus! Too long had he forgotten…
Ariadne cried when out he came –
For He had walked the path untrodden.

Now He was One again with She,
As He had been reborn with Light
For clothes and Truth for soles, now Free
To do what’s fair, what’s good, what’s right –

And speak to men the words of God.

Crux sacra sit mihi lux
Non draco sit mihi dux
 Vade retro satana
 Numquam suade mihi vana
 Sunt mala quae libas
 Ipse venena bibas

Drowned in the dirt of my fear,
 Mired in mirrors unclean,
Dark is the spume of my spleen,
 Deadly reflections unclear —
 My face a splintered mask,
But why so you may ask?

 L’appel de l’onde
 Résonne à la surface,
 Regard de glace
 Qui tout entier m’inonde…

 The waters’ rippling surface,
 Staring back at me,
 The waves a furious furnace
Burning this my enemy —
 In circles sink my sins,
My soul in spirals spins —

 L’appel de l’onde
 Résonne à la surface,
 Regard de glace
 Qui tout entier m’inonde…

Cosmos 08:06
A seed was sowed
And branches grew
 As rivers flowed
 To feed the roots.

 When beads of dew
 In darkness shone,
 The moonlit fruits
 Remained unknown.

 In darkness all light’s contained,
In silence all words are born,
In stillness all movements dwell,
 In nothing all matter’s borne.

 ‘Til morning came
 With hungry light
 To play the game
 And drink the juice.

 Behold the sight
 That sets one free
 As is let loose
The Cosmic Tree:

 In darkness all light’s contained,
In silence all words are born,
 In stillness all movements dwell,
In nothing all matter’s borne.

 Division is
Illusion-hole,
This vision is
 Connected Whole.

In darkness all light’s contained,
In silence all words are born,
In stillness all movements dwell,
In nothing all matter’s borne.

about

He who fears death is already dead.

If you like black metal, metaphysics and mythology, then these songs are for you, dear traveler!

It took me five years to complete this extremely personal album and three months to record it, one instrument at a time. And since I'm not a drummer, that part was probably the hardest one and is far from being perfect - but this is not what I was going for, so it doesn't matter. In fact, that is precisely the way I like music: imperfect, organic, alive!

It all started with two complementary tracks, namely "Rebirth Ritual", a Pagan hymn which corresponds to the time I was symbolically reborn, and "The Narcissist", which is the first track I composed when I started making music again and originally didn't have any lyrics - it simply was a portrait of what could be called the devil made man, whose meeting participated in making me who I am today - which I am thankful for.

"Crucifixion" is my way of p(r)aying tribute to the Man whose teachings and life have always been a great source of reflection and inspiration for me, ever since I saw the painting by Salvador Dalí entitled "Le Christ de Saint Jean de la Croix" as a child. After all, the symbolism of the cross is universal and Christian mythology is simply one of the many forms the Truth can take on.

"The Hero's Life, Death and Resurrection" sums up the three steps of a man's initiation one can easily gather from studying traditional myths whilst not forgetting that all orthodox doctrines are about Liberation and can't be reduced to a literal or materialistic interpretation, or even to mere moral considerations, as modern men so often do, which puts religious fanatics and atheists on the same level.

As for "Cosmos", let's say it is here to serve as a reminder for those who have forgotten that all things are One.

So do as Isis did with Osiris, dear traveler, if you want to come back from the dead: re-member - and you will become yourself at last!
